Deux belles réalisations féminines en grande voie ont eu lieu récemment. En compagnie de Romain Noulette qui l’enchaine aussi, Solène Amoros vient de réaliser une répétition éclair de “La Ramirole” dans le Verdon (150m, 5 longueurs, 8b). Réalisée aussi récemment par Kathy Choong, cette grande-voie athlétique est située au secteur du même nom en rive gauche. Offrant un effort athlétique et ludique sur colos dans un dévers prononcé (plus de 60 mètres d’avancée pour 150 m de hauteur), “La Ramirole” (8a+, 8a, 8b, 8a, 7a) a été enchainée par Solène après un “fight mémorable” d’après ses dires.

“Il y a une semaine avec Romain nous avons décidé spontanément de nous rendre dans le Verdon pour 4 jours. Mon projet principal cette année est une couenne à La Ramirole, donc je voulais regrimper là bas pour me réhabituer au style et voir ma progression après des mois d’entrainement. J’ai toujours rêvé de grimper des grandes voies dans cette grotte majestueuse, et c’était un moyen parfait de démarrer la saison ici ! La grande-voie “La Ramirole” est très impressionnante, avec 4 longueurs dans le 8ème degré et au total 60 mètres de dévers. Je l’ai réussie à mon second jour, en réalisant en tête toutes les longueurs et me battant vraiment beaucoup dans chacune d’entre elles. A la fin, cela s’est fini en une parfaite ascension sans tomber avec Romain, et une de mes réalisations les plus dures en grande voie ! Un jour que nous nous rappellerons pendant longtemps !”

En Sardaigne, c’est l’expérimentée grimpeuse polonaise Aleksandra Taistra qui se distingue avec une répétition en libre de l’exposée grande-voie “Olteconfine” 7c max, 7a obl/A3+ (ouverte par Fabio Palma, Matteo Della Bordella et Domenico Soldarini). La voie est située dans le mur de Gennirco dans la région de Baunei (Est de l’île). 8 longueurs (7c, 7a+,6c trad, 7c, 7a+,7a,7c, 6a). Sur du caillou très fragile, la voie fait 220m de haut pour seulement 31 points, un combat mental pour Aleksandra. “J’ai du mettre tous mes efforts pour être au top de ma forme physique et de ma conti, pour accompagner la force mentale que j’ai acquise avec toutes ces années de grimpe. Le rocher sale et fragile a été la plus grosse difficulté à surmonter, probablement personne ne s’y était aventuré depuis longtemps, et le côté expo R3+/III m’a causé du stress. J’ai pu protéger quelques endroits dans certaines longueurs avec des friends. J’ai bossé la voie en avril et je l’ai libérée fin avril. C’est la grande-voie le plus compliquée que j’ai jamais réalisée !”

2 nice mltipitch sends have been done recently by women. Joined by Romain Noulette who freed it too, Solène Amoros could do a quick repeat of “La Ramirole” multipitch in Verdon gorge (8b). Earlier this Spring, it was Kathy Choong who climbed it. Solène finished this athletic cave multipitch (60 meters overhang for 150 meters of height, 5 pitches 8a+, 8a, 8b, 8a, 7a) after a huge fight.

“A week ago with my friend Romain we spontaneously decided to go to the Verdon gorges for 4 days. My main project this year is a single pitch in La Ramirole sector, so I wanted to go there to readapt to the style and check my progression after a few months of training. I’ve always dreamed of climbing the multipitches in this majestic cave, and it was a perfect way to start the season there ! La Ramirole (the route) is super impressive, with four pitches in the 8th grade and a total of 60 m overhang. I sent it on the second day, leading every pitch and fighting super hard in every single pitch! In the end, it was a perfect no fall ascent with Romain, and it makes it one of my hardest multipitches sends to date! A day we will remember for a long time!”

In Sardinia, experimented Polish climber Aleksandra Taistra did a rare repeat of “Oltreconfine” multipitch.
Multipitch “Olteconfine” consists of 220 meters of most beautiful climb on the Ginnirqu wall in Baunei region. The route has 8 pitches (7c, 7a+,6c trad, 7c, 7a+,7a,7c, 6a), divided by large ledge. It offers climbing in many different rock formations.

“Those words from one of the climbing guides filled me with optimism – however, what was then happening on that wall was a completely different story…
On the full length of the route, so 220 metres, there are only 31 spits, and I sincerely doubt I’ve counted it wrong because I missed one or two… Technical challenges of each pitch quickly became secondary to me, I have focused all my efforts on reaching maximum physical fitness and stamina, to accompany the mental strength I’ve been mastering for years. Dirty and very fragile rock was a big difficulty as well, probably no one touched it in a very long time, which on R3+/III can cause some additional stress.”

“On some pitches I’ve added a few friends and I’ve found some threads.

I’ve been dogging this route mainly on my own in April – it wasn’t very convenient due to a lot of traverses and big runouts. I’ve finally lead the route on 27th of April with Jacek Wejster and I can safely say it was the most mentally challenging multipitch I’ve ever done! Small, but very important step ahead in my career.”

La Suissesse Kathy Choong continue son bonhomme de chemin et élargit sa liste de grandes voies extrêmes avec une nouvelle réalisation dans le Verdon après “Une jolie fleur” cet automne. En effet, accompagnée par son copain Jim, Kathy vient de réaliser la grande voie “La Ramirole” il y a quelques jours dans l’impressionnante baume du même nom. Il lui a fallu 6 journées au total pour réussir l’affaire : une journée pour découvrir, 3 journées de travail et un push la 5ème journée, où Kathy s’est avérée très proche de la réussite, avant de réaliser la grande-voie sans tomber la journée suivante. La longueur clé en 8b est très longue ; la première partie est très déversante avant une fin sur colos qui aboutit à un crux sur bidoigt où Kathy sera tombée deux fois lors de sa première tentative d’enchainement. Voici son commentaire suite à sa réussite :

“J’ai enchaîné à la journée toutes les longueurs de “La Ramirole” (8a+, 8a, 8b, 8a, 6c+ / 150m) dans une ascension parfaite sans chute ! Mais ce n’était pas du gâteau ! Chaque longueur était un long combat de résistance pour arriver jusqu’à la chaîne de cette voie que je rêvais de faire depuis longtemps. Mais il m’a fallu du temps avant de me sentir prête à affronter cet impressionnant mur déversant.

Jim mon partenaire était également proche de l’enchaînement, tombant en haut du 8b ! Partager cette aventure avec lui, partager avec lui la pression, la fatigue, les difficultés, la déception quand il est tombé mais également l’excitation, le soutien mutuel, les rires et les moments de joie après chaque longueur réussie ont fait de cette ascension une expérience incroyable !”

Swiss climber Kathy Choong continues her multi-pitch ticklist with a new extreme send in Verdon gorge after “Une jolie fleur” this fall. Joined by her boyfriend Jim, Kathy just repeated “La Ramirole” few days ago in the impressive cave of left bank. She needed 6 days of work before succeeding: one for the discover, 3 of work, and a close push on the 5th day. The key pitch around 8b of “La Ramirole” is very long. After a first overhanging part you finish with a tufa and a two finger pocket crux where Kathy fell two times during her prvious push. Here is her comment:

“I sent “La Ramirole in a day without falling (8a+, 8a, 8b, 8a, 6c+), a perfect send! But it wasn’t a pice of cake. Every pitch is a resistance battle until the anchor of this route I was dreaming to complete. It took me a lot of time to be ready to climb in this impressive wall.
My boyfriend Jim was also close to send, falling in the upper part of the 8b! Sharing this adveture with him, the pressure, the tireness, the difficulties, the disappointment when he fell and the psyched, the mutual spport, the laughs and moments of joy after every success in the pitchs made this ascent an incredible experience!”
