Deux ans après avoir réalisé le départ debout, Janja Garnbret est de retour sur “Bügeleisen” à Maltatal en Autriche. L’étoile de la grimpe slovène attendait le moment opportun pour prendre sa revanche sur le assis, et c’était ce dimanche ! Janja n’a fait qu’une bouchée du classique des lieux, un gros panneau déversant sur arquées ouvert il y a 10 ans par Nalle Hukkataival. Après un rapide check des mouvements, la croix est faite en quelques minutes ! Un bloc qu’elle empochera deux fois de suite ! Janja commente via son compte Instagram, avec une vidéo à la clé (en bas d’article).

“Je suis revenue beaucoup plus forte qu’il y a 2 ans et les mouvements me semblaient beaucoup plus faciles qu’avant. Il m’a fallu moins d’une demi-heure pour réussir les mouvements et le bloc. Je suis fière d’être la première femme à l’avoir fait ! Petite anecdote : je n’étais pas satisfaite de la vidéo de mon ascension, alors j’ai recommencé et j’ai grimpé le bloc de nouveau !”

Par cette nouvelle perf Janja prouve une fois encore son talent unique et rejoint le club très fermé des grimpeuses ayant réalisé du 8C bloc : la japonaise Tomoko Ogawa, l’allemande Kaddi Lehmann et les américaines Katie Lamb, Brooke Raboutou, et Ashima Shiraishi.

Two years after completing the stand start, Janja Garnbret is back on “Bügeleisen” in Maltatal, Austria. The Slovenian climbing star was waiting for the right moment to take her revenge on the sit start of the problem, and it was this Sunday! Janja made a quick work of the local classic, a big overhang panel with crimps opened 10 years ago by Nalle Hukkataival! After a quick move check, the send was done in few minutes! A boulder she’ll pocket twice in a row! Janja comments via her Instagram account, with a video to share (watch it below).

“Came back way stronger and moves felt a lot easier than they used to. Took me less than half an hour to get the moves dialed in and send the boulder Proud to be the first woman to get this one done!

Funny sidenote: wasn’t happy with the video Roman took of my ascent, so I actually went for another go and climbed the whole thing again 😉“

With this new feat, Janja once again proves her unique talent and joins the very select club of climbers who have climbed 8C boulder: the Japanese Tomoko Ogawa, the German Kaddi Lehmann and Americans Katie Lamb, Brooke Raboutou, and Ashima Shiraishi.

La championne olympique Janja Garnbret vient de réaliser un nouveau coup d’éclat avec la première féminine du panneau de “Bügeleisen” 8B+ sur le site de Maltatal en Autriche. Le départ debout de ce bloc, un des premiers 8B+ mondiaux, a été ouvert par la légende Klem Loskot en 2001. Le bloc demande un effort très intense d’environ 8 mouvements sur arquées dans un dévers à 60°. L’affaire pourrait ne pas s’arrêter là, Nalle Hukkataival ayant proposé une version assise du bloc en 8C en 2014… Dans ce lien vous pouvez admirer l’aisance de la slovène qui coche ici sa première réalisation majeure en bloc. Après avoir perfé à Oliana en fin d’année dernière avec deux 8c à vue, Janja refait parler d’elle en milieu naturel, et ce pour notre plus grand bonheur !

Olympic champion Janja Garnbret just striked again outdoors with the first female ascent of “Bügeleisen” 8B+ on the place of Maltatal in Austria. The stand start of this boulder was opened by the legend Klem Loskot in 2001, one of World’s first 8B+! The boulder offers a very intense effort on crimp in a 60° panel of about 8 movements. Affairs could not stop there, Nalle Hukkataival having proposed an 8C sit start version of the problem in 2014… Here you can admire the ease of the Slovenian who ticks her first major bouldering feat here. After having performed at Oliana at the end of last year with 2 8c’s onsight, Janja is talking about her again outdoors, and this for our greatest happiness!
