Seb Bouin s’est rendu à Majorque pour un trip hivernal de fin d’année. Il en a profité pour visiter les falaises de l’île, notamment les must de La Reserva, Museo ou encore Cala Tuent. Après un premier séjour il y a 10 ans où Seb avait fait le tour des falaises classiques (Fragel, Les Perxes,…) le mutant français a refait un tour du coin, conseillé par Iker Pou.
Ainsi, il réalise la 3ème ascension après Iker et Jaume Llebeta Serra d’une voie de 45 mètres équipée par Christian Lupion, “Reikavic Energy” 9a. “Après une approche en 8b, vient un jeté sommital avec une configuration bizarre, pas si dur en soi mais où il est facile de déjouer.” commente l’intéressé.
Seb aura aussi réalisé entre autres un de ses à vue les plus difficiles avec “Petit comit”, 8b+, à Cuenco. “Je fais toujours du à vue en reprise après ma pause de Noël. C’est un de mes à vue les plus difficiles mais je peux aller plus loin en termes d’effort, le problème est de trouver les méthodes qui marchent.”

Ce break mallorquin aura permis à Seb de souffler dans son bras de fer avec son projet “DNA” à la Ramirole. “Malgré le froid, je suis tombé 4 fois après le crux sommital au mois de décembre. Je pensais le finir avant Noël. Ce n’est malheureusement pas le cas. Je m’entraîne actuellement un peu en force, et en fonction des conditions je vais peut-être y retourner bientôt et tenter de la finir. Si il fait trop froid, je retourne à Stoking the fire”.
Les bases sont posées comme on dit !

Seb Bouin went to Mallorca for his end-of-year winter trip. He took the opportunity to visit the crags of the island, in particular the to-do that are La Reserva, Museo or Cala Tuent. After a first trip 10 years ago, when Seb had toured the classic cliffs (Fragel, Les Perxes and so on) the French rock climber went for a second time, on the advice of Iker Pou.
While there, he made the 3rd ascent (after Iker and Jaume Llebeta Serra) of a 45-meter route bolted by Christian Lupion, “Reikjavic Energy” 9a. “After an 8b approach comes the top dyno, which is awkward, not that hard on its own but easy to fall from” comments Seb.
Amongst other climbs, the Frenchman has also done one of his most difficult onsights with “Petit comit”, 8b+, in Cuenco. “I always go for onsights after my Christmas break. It’s one of my most difficult onsight sends but I can go further in terms of effort, the problem is to find the methods that work.”

This Mallorquin trip allowed Seb to take a break and put the battle with his “DNA” project at la Ramirole, Verdon, on temporary hold. “Despite the cold, I fell 4 times after the top crux in December. I thought I would finish it before Christmas. Unfortunately, it was not to be the case. I’m currently training power a little bit, and depending on the conditions I might go back there soon and try to finish it. If it’s too cold, I’ll go back on Stoking the fire instead”.

Le champion autrichien Jakob Schubert vient de passer des vacances à Majorque où il s’est adonné au Pscicobloc. Bien lui en pris puisque la semaine passée, Jakob a réussi la seconde ascension d’ “Alasha” (8c+/9a, crux sommital autour du 8B bloc) à Port de Soller, une lignée établie par le King Chris Sharma. Ensuite Jakob s’est naturellement tourné vers la célèbre arche d’Es Pontas à Santanyi, souvent essayée mais assez peu répétée. Depuis l’ouverture de Chris Sharma en 2007, seuls Jernej Kruder et Jan Hojer ont réussi à répéter la King line, célèbre pour son impressionnant jeté . “J’ai réalisé le jeté et je ne suis plus tombé ! commente Jakob sur son compte Instagram, qui empoche donc la 4ème ascension. Voici son retour sur son trip dans ce vlog avant la vidéo de sa répétition un peu plus tard… En un seul trip ici, Jakob aura répété les deux voies les plus dures de l’île et peut-être du monde en deep water ! Fort !

Austrian champion Jakob Schubert has just spent an holiday trip in Mallorca where he practiced pscicobloc. Things went fast: last week, Jakob managed the second ascent of “Alasha” (8c+/ 9a, topcrux around 8B boulder) at Port de Soller, a line established by King Chris Sharma. Then Jakob naturally went to the famous arch of Es Pontas in Santanyi, often tried but not often repeated. Since Chris Sharma’s first ascent in 2007, only Jernej Kruder and Jan Hojer have managed to repeat the King line, famous for his impressive dyno. “I stuck the dyno and didn‘t let go anymore!” comments Jakob on his Instagram account, grabbing the 4th ascent. Here is his feedback on his trip in this vlog, waiting for the video of his repeat of Es Pontas a little bit later… In just one trip here, Jakob will have climbed the two hardest routes of the island and may be of the World in deep water! Strong!
